Many online marketers make this one common mistake. As an online marketer, you may have attended many Internet marketing seminars which teach you at least ten different ways to market your products and your website online. You would have learnt how to marketing using:
- Articles
- Joint ventures
- Banners
- Forums
- Blogs
- Per-per-click advertising
- Classified ads
- Link exchanges
- Ezine advertising
- Social networking
- And more!
After the seminar, you go home and start putting up your website and marketing it. You start writing articles for a few days, and then writing a few emails to get joint venture partners followed by putting up a banner ad. You may then join a few forums and make a few posts. However, posting is tedious and troublesome, so you decide to put up your own blog instead. After 3 blog posts, you decide its time to do per-per-click advertising with Adwords. After 1 week of Adwords, you move on to put up free classified ads and get link exchanges. And then you remembered about ezine advertising and social networking. So youâve done all ten marketing strategies in one month!
Then comes another Internet marketing seminar and you learn about eBay. After the seminar, you go home and you set up your eBay account, take pictures of the stuff you want to sell and post your eBay listings!
You jump from one strategy to another and from one business to the next! This is the biggest mistake most online marketers make. They hop from one strategy to another before completing any one strategy. You have learnt about all these marketing strategies and you do all of them in a matter of one month or even a few months. This is the biggest mistake and also the biggest reason why many people do not achieve success with their online businesses. Too many marketing strategies, too little concentration on any single one.
So what do you do? Hereâs what you should do if you want to be successful:
Allocate one month for each marketing strategy. For example:
Month 1: Article marketing
Month 2: Joint ventures
Month 3: Banners
Month 4: Forum marketing
Month 5: Blogs
Month 6: Per-per-click advertising
Month 7: Link exchanges
And so on.
Following this monthly time table allows you concentrate your effort fully on one strategy for a longer period of time, do it to the maximum, and then move on to the next strategy. If you touch-and-go from one strategy to another, you will not be able to carry out any one strategy to the point of effectiveness. After one month, youâll only have barely started on each strategy and none of them are working as effectively as you wanted.
If you concentrate your efforts on one strategy for one month, youâll be able to see the results of concentrated effort in the form of having more traffic to your website. When you have just one single strategy to focus on at one time, your mind is able to have a clearer objective and function with a greater sense of peace, instead of being pulled in all directions leading to unfocused action. Use a monthly time table for your marketing strategy. Not only will you finally complete any one strategy, youâll also be generating more traffic to your website.
