The Three Rules That Guarantee Success

If you want to create your own product you need to follow these three simple rules that have proven time and time again to work extremely effectively. Follow each step and you will guarantee that your product is successful.

What type of product you choose to create is entirely up to you. The two most profitable products that you can create are ebooks and software but you can also create a set of video tutorials and sell them as an information product.

Information products such as ebooks are very popular because they cost almost nothing to maintain and distribute. People crave information that teaches them new skills and they are willing to pay for it. They want all of the information in one place so they don’t have to waste time searching for it.

Software products are also very popular because they have a higher perceived value than ebooks and can be sold for much more. The down side is that it costs more to maintain as the software may need to updated on a regular basis.

Video messages and audio recordings are becoming extremely popular because people don’t have time to read over fifty pages of text and its easier just to watch or listen to the information instead. Its also easier to teach people using videos and it makes it more simple to understand.

But before you decide to create your own product you need to do the necessary research because if you don't you will probably find that all the time and effort you spent developing it was for nothing as no one wants to buy it.

Here are the three rules of product creation:

1. Find a hungry crowd

The first rule involves finding a demand for certain information or finding a problem that needs a specific solution. This is the first and most important step you need to do before you can start thinking about what type of product to create.

To find niche markets and demand for products you need to research the keyword statistics in the search engines by using a free keyword research tool such as Good Keywords. If you want more detailed statistics as well as many other useful features you can use a paid service such as Word Tracker.

This will show you how many times specific keyword phrases were searched for in the previous month which will give you a general indication of how much demand there is for this type of information. You are looking for niche markets that have a lot of searches per month and also look at how many searches the related keyword phrases above and below have received because if they are high as well the niche market may be profitable.

Its important to remember that there may be different types of keywords that related to the same market such as "weight loss" and "diet". This is why you need to think of all the possible keyword phrases that are closely related because when they are combined it indicates that there is even more demand for this type of information.

2. Find out what the crowd wants

The second rule involves finding out what that target market actually wants. This is very important because although you may have found a target market you may not necessarily know exactly what they crave and it takes a lot more in depth research to find this out.

A great way to find out what people actually want is to visit forums that are related to your target market and monitor what people are discussing and what problems they have. Most forums will also have a search feature so that you can quickly find what you are looking for.

You can also post questions and actually ask people what they want or what would help them to achieve their goals and desires. This information is priceless as you will be getting direct feedback from your target market which will help you determine if there is demand for your product.

Another way to find out what people want is to conduct surveys. This is easy if you already have your own opt in list and its just a case of creating a survey page on your website and sending it to your list with a bonus incentive if they complete it. You can also post your survey on related forums and discussion boards.

If you think you have found out what your target market wants its a good idea to check the search engines to see if you have any competitors who are already selling similar products. A healthy amount of competition is a good indication that there is money to be made in this market especially if there are many people advertising in the pay per click listings because they are actually paying for traffic.

If there is a lot of competition in your target market you may think that its not worth targeting because its over saturated but you may be able to create a product that is better than your competitors or slightly different which could make it profitable.

3. Give the crowd what they want

The third rule involves creating a product that satisfies the demand. This may seem easy but you have to find out if people are actually willing to pay for the product. You have to make sure that what you are selling actually provides real value to customers.

If you have found a target market with a demand for a certain product but there is already a wealth of information available for free that caters for their need you may find its hard to actually sell the product. But don't forget that most people are lazy and would much prefer to pay a small fee to have all of the information in one place and compiled into an easy to read ebook.

A successful business consists of your product, your target market niche, and your unique selling proposition (USP). If you have a good idea and create a quality product that is unique for a specific market with sufficient demand and little competition you will almost guarantee your success as long as you have a good sales letter and promote it properly.
