Optimizing your website or blog for search engines is one of the most
important aspects of maintaining a webmasters. A properly SEOed website brings what your website needs most: traffic. Without traffic, your website is nothing more than a personal diary. Most importantly, if you're selling a service or product, without traffic you will see no sales.
Let's look at a couple ways in which you can increase the SEO strength if your website. These techniques aren't difficult in any way, and are actually quite basic. The most important thing is that you take the time out to implement them, that's it.
Give close attention to the keywords in your page title. Search engines place a lot of value on the title of your page - it is afterall the largest bit of text that will come up when your site is searched for in the search engines. Your title should not only be relevant and readable, but it should also contain top keywords that people are searching for. A good title is one of the first things that search engine spiders look for, so don't let them down.
Don't neglect defining keywords for each page. It will help search
engine spiders figure out what your page is about. The less confusion for search engine spiders, then the higher your rankings will be.
Your headings and sub-headings also need to contain important keywords. Use the
,, etc... codes to your advantage. Many websites don't utilize these codes, even though search engine spiders place a lot of value on them (since they are headlines, afterall).
Make sure your content is keyword optimized. The words found at the top of the page have more power than those at the bottom of the page, so be sure to put some important keywords towards the top. Search engines will sift through the entire page, so place strategic keywords all throughout the page as well. Always have content that is unique and be sure to update your old content once in a while. This will give you more brownie points with the search engines and will ultimately help your rankings.
